The graph below shows the median number of current portfolio companies held for PE firms in each deal-size range.
On the whole, private equity firms seeking smaller companies, hold fewer platform investments in their portfolio, while private equity firms seeking larger companies make more platform acquisitions for their portfolio.
In short – Smaller target size, fewer acquisitions. Larger targets, more acquisitions.
